400 Miles of IRL Excitement
RaceWeek reaches its pinnacle with the Firestone Indy 400 when some of the fastest cars and the best IRL drivers in the country vie with each other for that coveted checkered flag. It’s 400 miles of non-stop thrills and breathtaking excitement!Action extends from the track to the pits, and there's not a bad seat in the house to see this action. These 670 hp open wheeled racers cover the 2 mile track at MIS at over 200 mph, turning blistering laps with other cars only inches away.
Last year Helio Castroneves finished 1.62 seconds ahead of Vitor Meira to win the 2006 Firestone Indy 400. It was the first win that Team Penske celebrated at MIS since 1991, and Castroneves will return in 2007 to see that it is not the last.
Of course, that means he will have to outrace some of the IRL greats like Dan Wheldon and Sam Hornish Jr. Also promising to be tough competition are Marco Andretti, Scott Dixon, Kosuke Matsuura and more.
Danica Patrick will also return to MIS. Only this time, she won’t be the only female behind the wheel. Milka Duno and Sarah Fisher will prove they have what it takes to dominate the race track in this wheel-to-wheel, action packed racing extravaganza.
