Hungry for Horsepower?
The Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce hosts the "Lunch in the Fast Lane" on Friday, August 3. The Luncheon serves as the traditional kickoff to the RaceWeek Friday Night festivities and is an event that is looked forward to year after year.The stars of the Indy Racing League, including last year's Firestone Indy 400 winner Helio Castroneves, will dine with local and regional dignitaries, community business leaders, MIS representatives and others.
The featured speaker for the Lunch in the Fast Lane will be Curt Cavin. Curt Cavin is in his 20th season covering motor sports for the Indianapolis Star, focusing on Indy cars, NASCAR and Formula One. He also is a regular contributor to Detroit-based AutoWeek and WTHR-13, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis. In 2004, Curt completed a six-month study of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, becoming the first journalist to count all of the seats at the historic facility. His count: 257,325. The Indiana native is a graduate of Franklin College in Franklin, Ind., and is working with the school to develop a sports writing curriculum. He prefers to watch Indy-car racing on oval tracks and considers Michigan International Speedway one of his favorite venues.
